Product Launch:
new pepsi & 7UP flavours

Situation

In Q4 2021, SodaStream Canada (PepsiCo) was excited to do a nationwide launch of their new line of Pepsi & 7UP flavours. In order to generate awareness of these delicious flavours, the SodaStream team had committed ad spend to TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, native website advertising along with a national TV spot.

Task

Amazon Ads was approached by SodaStream to recommend and implement an impactful ad strategy within a tight 2-week deadline that would help complement their current media mix and drive awareness of their new flavour products.

Action

SodaStream was initially only interested in running a basic static banner campaign on the Amazon.ca website displaying their new flavour offerings. I reviewed the various Amazon ad products that would be conducive to driving mass awareness and provided an upsell recommendation to launch these new Pepsi & 7UP flavours using our H1 homepage hero banner placement which would showcase their new flavours above the fold on the homepage of the Amazon.ca website for all visitors to see. Working with the Amazon in-house design team I ensured the H1 design included the key products SodaStream was looking to feature and provided detailed creative direction to ensure all design elements met Amazon’s strict ad policy guidelines. I also worked closely with both Amazon and SodaStream legal teams to ensure the messaging on the ad was consistent with the messaging currently in-market so that this product launch campaign maintained communication continuity across their entire media mix.

Result

I secured a $112,000 ad spend upsell commitment for the H1 placement. Performance results below:

 

  • Impressions: 8,926,184

  • Clickthrough Rate: 0.57% (based on a benchmark of 0.23%)

  • Total Product Sales: $236,372
